Issuing a certificate
Issuing a certificate
In Pluvo, you can issue a certificate in several ways. Which route you choose depends on where you're working:
- From a learning path — manually to one or more participants, or automatically based on conditions.
- From an event — when a participant has attended a (physical) event.
- From the skills matrix — useful when you want to assign a missing certificate from the compliance overview.
Below we explain each route step by step.
From a learning path
Issuing manually
- Go to the learning path from which you want to issue a certificate.
- Open the participants tab and make sure you're in list view (the button is to the left of the search bar).
- Check the box next to the name or names of the participant(s) you want to issue a certificate to.
- Click the certificate icon and select the certificate you want to issue.

- The participant now receives an email with a link to the certificate.
Issuing automatically
Issuing automatically is useful when participants should only receive a certificate once they meet certain requirements. You arrange this with conditions in the learning path. Below, we issue a certificate as soon as a participant has completed the final lesson module.
- Go to the learning path from which you want to issue the certificate.
- Create a new module group with the plus icon at the very bottom of the page.

- Give the module group a title (for example 'certificate') and select 'completion of lesson module' as the condition.

- Then choose the lesson module that must be completed and, if desired, set a required score. This determines the condition for receiving the certificate.

You have a few options here:
- Status open: here you set how soon after completing the lesson module the certificate may be issued. Leave this at 0 hours if the certificate may be issued immediately.
- Email notification: check this if you want to send the participant an email with the certificate. Have you already set in the certificate's settings (via management > certificates) that the certificate is sent by email? Then uncheck this option to prevent duplicate emails.
- Hidden: check this if you want the module group with the certificate to only become visible after the condition has been met. If you uncheck this, the participant will already see that a certificate is coming, but it can only be opened after the condition has been met.
- Save the module group and click 'add module' in your new module group within your learning path.

- Choose certificate and select the desired certificate. Save this and your certificate is linked.

From an event
Are you using the registration pages for a (physical) event? Then you can issue a certificate as soon as a participant has attended.
- Go to the catalog and open your event's page.
- Click the date of the event.
- You now see the registration list. Check the box next to the name or names of the participants you want to issue a certificate to.
- Click the icon with a checkmark. This registers the participant's attendance and gives you the option to issue the certificate.

Don't see a button to issue a certificate? Then you still need to link a certificate to your event. You do this in your event's settings.

From the skills matrix
Are you working from the skills matrix? Then you issue a certificate directly at the spot where you see it's missing.
- Open the skills matrix (via the gear icon at the top right > Users column > Skills matrix).
- Find the user and look at the skill for which a certificate is still missing. You can recognize the status by the icon in the cell (see Reading the skills matrix for the meaning of the icons).
- Click the status icon in the cell. A window opens with the certificates required for this skill.
- Choose the certificate you want to issue and confirm.
The user receives the certificate and the status in the skills matrix is updated immediately.

Customizing the certificate email
With every route, the participant receives an email with the certificate. You can customize this email in your own style via management > settings > emails > 'Notification: certificate received'. Read more about this in Creating certificates.
