Create certificates
How great is it to receive a certificate or proof of participation at the end of a learning journey? In Pluvo, there are two types of certificates:
- Pluvo certificate: a certificate that you design and issue yourself via Pluvo.
- External certificate: a certificate that a participant uploads themselves, for example a certificate obtained outside of Pluvo.
Creating certificates is available from a Plus subscription or higher.
Creating a Pluvo certificate
Creating a certificate in Pluvo is actually incredibly easy, especially if you follow the steps below.
- Go to your admin panel and then click on certificates.
- Click on new certificate.
- You will find two templates. Choose the one you find most suitable.
- Then choose the primary and secondary colour. If you do not set anything here, the colours configured in the academy settings will be used.

- Give your certificate a recognisable name. This name is only visible to administrators.
- Enter a title to appear on the certificate. If desired, you can also add a subtitle and an additional piece of text.

- Optionally upload a signature (image, preferably .png) and indicate the validity of your certificate. This will also be shown on the certificate. If you do not change anything here, your certificate will have unlimited validity.
- Does a participant earn points by obtaining the certificate? If so, you can enter the number of points and choose the points system.

- You can adjust the logo in the academy settings. Click on the cog icon next to the 'manage learning journeys' button on the front page of your academy > click on more settings > click on logo & colours.
- The name of the learning journey and the learner is added automatically when the certificate is issued from the learning journey.
- The date depends on when you configure the certificate to be awarded.
Adding notifications
Does your certificate have a limited validity? You can then send a notification when the certificate is about to expire. You can choose who should receive this notification (participant, group manager and/or trainer) and when it is sent.
Adding extra information to your certificate
- Show course modules: information from course modules within a learning journey is printed when you tick this option. You can choose to show only the name. Scores and time spent can also be added by selecting the relevant boxes.

- Extra categories: you can also display user categories on your certificate. Tick which information may appear on the certificate. Read here more about creating user categories.

Issuing a certificate
Would you like to issue a certificate upon completion of a learning journey?
You can do this in an automated or manual way:
- Automated: Go to your learning journey. Choose 'add modules' > certificate. Select the correct certificate and make sure you set conditions so that the certificate is issued at the desired moment. A more detailed explanation of issuing the certificate can be found in this article.
- Manually: Open your learning journey from the front page and open the participants tab. Make sure you are in the list view (you will see this button to the left of the search bar). Select one or more participants and then click on the certificate icon.

Are you using the registration pages for a (physical) meeting?
You can also issue a certificate if a participant has attended the meeting. You do this as follows:
- Go to offers and open the page of your meeting.
- Click on the date of the meeting.
- You will now see the registration list. Tick the box next to the name or names of the participants to whom you wish to issue a certificate.
- Click on the icon with a tick. This registers the participant's attendance and also gives you the option to issue the certificate.

If you do not see a button to issue a certificate, you still need to link a certificate to your event. You do this in the settings of your meeting.

Customising the certificate e-mail
The e-mail your learners receive with the certificate can be customised to match your own style. This e-mail is sent at the moment you issue a certificate.
To do this, go to admin > settings > e-mails and then click on 'Notification: certificate received.' Here you can adjust, amongst other things, the button, text, subject, and salutation.

Adding an external certificate
An external certificate can be linked to a specific skill, so that participants can upload their external certificate to achieve that skill.
Upload an external certificate
In the settings, open 'certificates'
and then choose 'external certificate':

You can then enter the name of this external certificate and configure all the options as you wish.

The external certificate is then available to be linked to the learning offers or to a skill in your academy.
