Assessment item: Blank space
"What should be placed in the blank space?" That is the essence of this question. Below, you can see an example of a 'fill in the blanks' question.
To create a 'fill in the blanks' question, follow these steps:
Put the instructions for this question in the 'question' field. For example: 'Fill in the missing word in the empty field and press ‘Answer’.
Use the 'feedback' field to provide general feedback, which is always shown after answering the question. If you want to give feedback on a specific answer, you can do that later when adding the correct answers.
Indicate the maximum number of points that can be earned with this assignment. Additionally, specify whether the answers should be case-sensitive. If you set this to 'No', for example, it doesn't matter if a learner writes 'amsterdam' or 'Amsterdam'.
Now, we come to the field called 'text with blank spaces'. Here, you enter the piece of text that learners need to complete with missing words. The position of the first missing word is indicated by [1], the second by [2], etc.
Then, for the first field, provide the correct answer and assign a point (or multiple points). Here, you also have the option to provide specific feedback when a particular answer is given.
If you want to consider different spelling forms of the correct answer, you can add them all as new answer options and also assign points to them.
Once you have entered the answer options for the first field, click on the plus sign and proceed to the second field, third field, and so on.
