# Group manager

# Group manager

Alongside the general user roles, Pluvo has the group manager. This role is intended for supervisors and team leaders: someone who monitors the progress of a fixed group of employees and steps in where needed, without gaining access to the rest of the academy.

## How do you become a group manager?

Group manager isn't a role you set in a user profile — it's a link to a specific group. You always assign someone to a particular group, and one person can be group manager of several groups at once.

To assign someone:

1. In the admin area, go to **users > groups**.
2. Open the group in question.
3. Open the **group managers** tab.
4. Click **add group managers**, select the user(s) and confirm.

You can read more about setting up groups in [Creating groups](https://helpdesk.pluvo.com/en/article/tfq2q/).

Do you manage a group whose members take part in a learning path or meeting? You'll see a label showing your group manager role on that item, so you can tell at a glance where you have a role.

## What can a group manager do?

The principle: a group manager only sees and manages the members of their own group(s). Anything beyond that is not visible.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can someone be group manager of several groups?**
Yes. You link the user to each group separately.

**Does a group manager see the full user list?**
No. Only the members of their own group(s).

**What's the difference from a trainer?**
A trainer is linked to a learning path, meeting or webinar and supports everyone within that item. A group manager is linked to a group of people and follows that group across all items. See [Roles: who can do what?](https://helpdesk.pluvo.com/en/article/gnef1w/).
